The Dutch duo Telmo Miel was recently in Norway – once again – where they painted this clever mural as a tribute to Rolv Wesenlund (1936 – 2013), a beloved Norwegian comedian, actor, singer, writer and clarinetist.
Titled ‘That socks’, the mural was painted in Horten, Norway, Wesenlund’s hometown and features the actor in his characteristic outfit and charming silliness. He holds the one end of a clothesline cord with his mouth while point his finger, like explaining something. From the cord hang two red socks, alluding to the popular phrase “that sucks” and to the fact that he only wore red socks.
Wesenlund was most known for having portrayed the title character in the movies Bør Børson, Bør Børson II, and the TV series Fleksnes Fataliteter, a popular Scandinavian sitcom, with a huge number of fans in Sweden, Denmark as well as Norway.
TELMO MIEL
The Rotterdam-based Dutch duo TelmoMiel, composed of the artists Telmo Pieper and Miel Krutzmann, define themselves as muralists and creators of contemporary art.
In 20017 Telmo, a licensed illustrator and designer, met Miel, who was already active in the graffiti scene, but it wasn’t until 2012 that they started collaborating, after both had completed the their degrees at the Academy of Art.
The two artists work with a photo-realistic style that focuses on contrasts. They work ideas separately, later combining both sketches and giving shape to surrealistic compositions with great attention to detail. They are also so into each others work that when working on a piece together, they are able to switch places when ever wanted or needed.
