Italian artist Fabio Squirru, better known as TELLAS, was until recently in Tuscany invited to participate in the third edition of the Street Art Agliana festival in Agliana, a small commune in the Province of Pistoia near Florence.
TELLAS work speaks about his fascination for ethereal and untouched landscapes rendered through a delicate line-work. Although his work strives towards a minimalistic approach to painting, his pieces depict detailed natural motives that, abstracted and persistently repeated, evoke a sense of nostalgia and enigmatic beauty.
In this fashion, TELLAS new piece, titled “Deep Deep” and painted at Don Milani preparatory school, seems to drag you into the deeps of something greater than yourself. An enigmatic and evocative piece depicting an increasingly entangled nature landscape towards the center of the piece, an effect reinforced by the use of a gradient of bright blue colours, created using the artist’s characteristic and delicate line-work. Born Fabio Schirru in 1985 and grown up in Sardinia, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna (Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna). His work is based on a research on the essence of nature, illustrating his oeuvre personal, intimate and highly organic visions of the elements of natural landscapes.
