The Uruguayan art collective Colectivo Licuado was recently in Buenos Aires invited to take part of the always great Trama festival, an event curated by Martín Ron (featured) in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Titled “Las hiladoras” (The spinners) and based on a staged photograph, the new mural is inspired by the Greek myth of the Moirai, also known as Fates; the three white-robed incarnations of destiny whose thread is the life of people.
Among these mythological figures we have the one that holds the skein, the one that measures and the one that cuts. Funny enough, and without prior knowledge on the artist’s side, it turned out that the wall this mural is painted on belongs to a textile factory, so the concept ended being just perfect. As mentioned above the mural is based on a photograph created for the occasion by a team composed of Araí Moleri Riva-Zucchelli (photography), Rodrigo Pasantes (clothing), and of course the three women that served as models for this lovely mural, Cami Fernández, Pati Horovitz and Clara Aguayo (as credited by the artists).
About the artists
Formed five years ago, the duo composed of Uruguayan artists Camilo Núñez and Florencia Durán have firmly established themselves as pioneers in a rapidly growing street art scene with a series of collaborative murals that encompass the cultural and natural context of the neighbourhood they are in. The two artists, who already had successful careers of their own, Camilo painting as THEIC and Florencia as Fitz, joined forces in order to bring the best of their art to the streets and fill public and private spaces with colour.
