The Dutch duo TelmoMiel consisting of Telmo Pieper and Miel Krutzmann sent recently a few images of his last mural, painted in occasion of this year’s POW WOW Hawaii in beautiful Honolulu.
Titled A’o Mai I Kou Hewa (Learn From Your Mistakes) the mural depicts two small kids being bitten by crabs with strong human torsos.
“Don’t stick your hand in with the crabs” that’s something many parents tell their kids, but they do it anyway. The pain, the experience, is something they will always remember, learning from this mistake.
Maybe is has a deeper message, maybe not because, as expressed by them “too much thinking can sometimes be a killer, and it’s nice to just stare at something for a while that’s beautiful to look at just because it’s beautiful.”
Telmo Pieper and Miel Krutzmann, both born in Rotterdam, Netherlands and graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy, they share a fascination for realistic imagery expressed through monumental paintings currently spread around the world.
At the time they met in 2007 at the academy, Miel had already spent some time painting walls with spray paint. Telmo on the other hand never did until he met Miel. This meeting gave birth to their first art collective, a graffiti crew named Codex Inferno along with a third member. In 2012 they decided to go separate ways and Telmo and Miel continued as the duo they are today.
The two artists decided to take their skill and ambitions to the next level, starting not only the creative company titled TelmoMiel, but also Sober concept store, from which you will hear very soon.
