A couple of weeks ago opened 4Urban Tales, a new group show at the newly established Magma gallery in Bologna, Italy, featuring the work of four talented emerging artists Tellas, Martina Merlini, Hazul and Made514.
The show consists of a series of individual canvases and paper work by the artists and a couple of site specific mural installations by Martina Merlini and Made514 that covered two of the walls of the gallery.
As the title of the exhibition might suggest 4 Urban Tales establishes a close dialogue between the viewer and the four aesthetic approaches of these four artists.
The work of Tellas expresses his personal and intimate vision of the elements of the natural landscape, expressed through a meditative process. Martina Merlini on the other hand focuses on geometric abstraction, always searching for a quiet and powerful balance in her compositions, making use of thick and symmetrical brushstrokes suddenly disjointed by new forces and forms that seem to follow natural instincts and impulses. Made514’s work is all about contrasts, where sharp and soft lines meet alternating with expressive drippings and gestures and letters become part of the figurative imagery. Hazul, the only non-Italian artist in this show, expresses his particular approach to urban art where lettering and natural elements meet.
The show will be on view until May 28 at the gallery located on Via S. Stefano n.164, Bologna.
