Russian artist Rustam Qbic just finished this new mural in Kiev entitled ‘Labyrinth’ kicking off Art United Us, an international project that intends to raise public awareness and attention to the problem of war, aggression and violence, and that during the next couple of years will produce 200 walls both in Ukraine and abroad.
‘Labyrinth’ by Rustam Qbic is based on a recent painting of the same name. The mural depicts a character wearing a crown shaped like a labyrinth over his head who guided by scarab beetle compass, tries to find a way out of a massive maze of life challenges. The mural reflects on the meaning of this journey, a journey we all undertake at some point in our lives.
As mentioned above, this is the first mural of this new project created and organised by a Ukrainian team consisting of Geo Leros – cinematographer/director, artist, producer, the founder and curator of City Art street art project in Kiev, Iryna Kanishcheva – photographer and founder and curator of 352walls/ The Gainesville Urban Art Initiative in Gainesville, Florida, Waone from Interesni Kazki and Ilya Sagaidak – Deputy Mayor, Member of Kiev city government and founder/curator of Dynamic Urban Culture Kiev.
Next artist in line is Spanish illustrator and muralist Liqen who is already on his way so expect more from this ambitious project!
