Here a new series of abstract expressionist pieces by Norwegian artist DOLK for this year’s Nuart Festival in Stavanger, Norway. Yes, it’s that time of the year!
These new pieces are something very different from what he has done before, at least under the pseudonym DOLK and form part of a global series of 100 works that offer a radical departure from his usual style. In addition to be fun and aesthetically interesting, the new “buff series” seem to cast a critical eye on, or at least highlight, the relationship between street art and censorship.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of NuArt, one of the first and biggest street art festivals in the world today. As every year, the festival will bring renowned street and urban artist and performers from around the globe, to create new murals, installations and interventions around the city in addition to a series of talks and seminars focusing around the concept of ‘Situationism and play’ and exploring how the playful element of Situationism, punk, graffiti and street art has been affected by increasing commercial and academic interest in these movements. The festival’s 15th edition will take place on Beerhalls (Ølhallene) at Tou Scene located on Kvitsøygate 25 Stavanger, Norway on the first weekend of September. The opening will be held on September 5th at 7pm with an exhibition until October 11th, 2015.
