Italian muralist and illustrator BLU has recently joined a new cause and painted the façade of the space housing the Binario 68 Occupato building located on via Dalmazio Birago in Lecce, Italy.
Binario 68 is an occupied space created in 2014 as a way to ‘express a different way of understanding life and human relationships, breaking the logic of profit and oppression’ and that organizes a series of workshops, cultural events and meetings related to social and political issues.
BLU is as we all know a socially and politically engaged artist that is not afraid of speaking his mind, often through bold murals that express his feelings an empathy for the people and the cultural history of the places he visits. This is the case of Lecce and Binario 68 where he, with some help of the guys from Binario 68 and Cheko’s art, transformed the face of this former Tabaccheria with this colourful mural that carries many of the symbols used by the organization.
