Last week opened “This Quiet, Harsh Land”, Tellas‘ first solo exhibition in the Netherlands at Mini Galerie in Amsterdam.
The exhibition, consisting in a new series of canvases and illustrations, introduces Tellas poetic minimalism striving to create beautiful and meditative pieces of art that invite the viewer to a new kind of journey exploring the unspoiled landscapes of his homeland through the use of abstracted nature based motifs.
Tellas work, characterized by a delicate line-work in an often black and white colour scheme, is minimalistic yet very detailed. His explorations of untouched landscapes from which he derives his abstracted motifs that persistently repeated evoke a sense of vastness of our surroundings that eventually translates into a a feeling of calmness.
About the artist:
Born in Cagliari, Italy Fabio Schirru aka Tellas moved in 2003 to Bologna where he studied visual arts at the “Accademia delle belle arti”.
Although he studied fine arts Tellas got inspired by various murals he had come across in the different cities where he had traveled representing his work an abstract concept of nature expressed by the use of multiple techniques and medium such as illustration, canvas, murals and installations.
