Last month Nelio participated of the Mosaïque Urbaine part of Project Bizarre in Vénissieux, France where he painted this large scale mural featuring his signature style.
As mentioned earlier, his imagery is graffiti-rooted, aware of art history and influenced by graphic design, architecture and according to the artists, his own childhood memories. Nelio sees his artwork as an unknown language and that’s the reason why he seems to be attracted to primitive art as well as alphabets and symbols from old civilizations as well as fine art and movements such as Suprematism, Cubism, Dadaism, Surrealism, De Stijl, Bauhaus, Op Art, all visible in his current work.
