It’s difficult to look away from the irregularities related to this year’s World Cup, It’s not only the complete lack of organisation, it is also about the injustices their people (the poor) has experienced in the last time. Cleaning the city for ‘undesirable’ poor people is just one side of this many faced coin. Evictions, child prostitution, murder of street kids and homeless people are just a few things Brazil cannot be proud of.
This is what the German art collective Captain Borderline tries to express in the two murals here presented and painted in the streets of Rio de Janeiro featuring both the evictions, the corruption behind the whole and those forgotten by society.

“It’s dedicated to : Rafael Braga Vieira, a homeless man, detained after a protest in Rio de Janeiro on 20 June 2013 and sentenced to five years’ imprisonment. He was accused of carrying explosives without authorization, but claims that he was carrying cleaning products.
He is one of the countless people who are suffering under the weight of the FIFA football.”
