Urban Legends opened last Friday in Rome presenting the work of twelve artists, six French and six Italian, who have dedicated a great part of their lives to paint in the streets.
The artists invited are C215, AlexOne, Philippe Beaudelocque, Epsilonpoint, Popay and Seth from France and the Italians 108, Tellas, Moneyless, Andreco, Lucamaleonte and Eron brought together at the MACRO Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome.
The exhibition was organized by 999contemporary Gallery and curated by Stefano Antonelli in collaboration with the French association “Le Jours de France”.
Among the pieces in this exhibition that caught my attention was a great collaborative canvas between Tellas, Moneyless and 108, a beautiful an balanced piece offering the best of each artists art. A rather amusing piece is the one painted by Alëxone and Popay showing their interpretation of St. George and the Dragon. Keeping in mind great collaborations, we cant avoid to mention Seth’s collaborative canvas with Philippe Baudelocque, a black and white wonder. Each canvas illuminates the room in their own particular way, all from the beautiful stencil art by C215, a portrait of Rafaela Carrà (btw, a childhood favourite (children have bad taste)) and the work of Lucamonte, Andreco to mention some of them. A great show that brings the best from both street art scenes.
The exhibition will be running until August 10 offering not only art, but also workshops, lectures, music and street food from June to August so if you are around give it a chance.
